This guide explains how to configure your university email address in the macOS Mail app.

These instructions are specific to macOS Sequoia 15.0. The steps and terminology may vary slightly in other versions.

Note for Off-Campus Users: If you are connected to an off-campus network or using eduroam, please complete multi-factor authentication (MFA) through webmail before proceeding.

  1. Launch the Mail app on your Mac.
  2. If you are already using the Mail app with another email account:
    Click Mail in the top menu bar and select Add Account.

  3. Select Other Mail Account..., then click Continue.

  4. In the setup window, fill in the following fields:
    Name: Enter the name you want displayed as the sender.
    Email Address: Enter your university email address.
    Password: Enter your CIS account password.
    Click Sign In.

  5. If you see an error message and additional fields appear:

    Enter the following details:
    Username: Your email username.
    Account Type: Select IMAP.
    Incoming Mail Server: Enter the URL for the incoming mail server (imapmaill.cis.kit.ac.jp).
    Outgoing Mail Server: Enter the URL for the outgoing mail server (smtpmail.cis.kit.ac.jp).
    Click Sign In again.

  6. Once your account is verified, click Done to complete the setup.
