Obtain the necessary access credentials and configuration details required for connection.

1. Sign in to https://vpnt.cis.kit.ac.jp/ using your CIS account.
2. Click the 'CI required for usage' button to take notes of the confidential information for your Mac.

How to set up a client VPN connection on Mac

1. Select [System Preferences] from the Apple menu.
   
2. Click on the "Network" icon at the center of the "System Preferences" screen.
   
3. Click the [+] button at the bottom of the list on the left side of the [Network] screen.
   
4. Enter 'VPN' for "interface", 'Cisco IPSec' for "VPN Type", any name, such as 'KIT-VPN' for "Service Name", and then click the [Create] button.
   
5. Enter 'vpnt.cis.kit.ac.jp' for "Server Address" and your CIS account for "Account Name". Then, click the [Authentication Settings] button.
   
   
   
6. Select the [Shared Secret] radio button, enter the shared secret you noted in the input field, input the group name you noted in "Group Name" field, and then click the [OK] button.
   
7. Click "Advanced..." button.
   
   
   
8. Click "Proxy" tab.
   
   
   
9. Check the checkbox "Auto Proxy Discovery" and click "OK" button.
   
10. Click "Apply" button.
    

 Connect to the service and use Fortigate client VPN

1. Select [System Preferences] from the Apple menu.
   
2. Click on the "Network" icon at the center of the "System Preferences" screen.
   
3. Choose the VPN connection you have configured, and then click the [Connect] button.
   
4. Enter your CIS password and click "OK" button.
   
5. The status will change to [Connected], and the VPN connection status will turn green upon successful connection.
   
6. VPN setup has completed.

Disconnect from the service and revert to the original network connection

1. Select [System Preferences] from the Apple menu.
   
2. Click on the "Network" icon at the center of the "System Preferences" screen.
   
3. Choose the VPN connection you have configured, and then click the [Disconnect] button.
