To establish an Internet connection with a fixed global IP address using a router, you need to configure the router with a global IP address.

Due to variations in configuration methods and terminology among router manufacturers, this section outlines the general configuration process.
For specific settings and explanations of on-screen terms, please refer to the manufacturer's manual or the FAQ.

If separate articles are available for your router, as shown below, please refer to the links for detailed information.

警告

Routers that do not support configuring a static IP address for the Internet (WAN) cannot be used for a static global IP address connection. Make sure to verify this capability before purchasing a router.

警告

Auto-configuration features such as 'Perform Easy Setup' on Buffalo routers and 'Easy Connect' on IO-DATA routers are not applicable for fixed global IP address connections.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Access the router's management interface from your PC and log in.
  2. When the automatic setting function screen appears, choose an item that you can manually configure.

  3. Configure the Internet (WAN) settings as outlined below:

To enhance security, update both the password for the management page and the Wi-Fi from the initial default to a more complex and less predictable password.
