This guide explains how to configure your university email address in the Android Gmail app.
These instructions are based on the Gmail app for Android 14 (version 2024.11.24.702067492.Release). The wording and steps may vary depending on your operating system or app version.
Note for Off-Campus Users: If you are connected to an off-campus network or using eduroam, please complete multi-factor authentication (MFA) through webmail before proceeding.
- Launch the Gmail App
- Tap the hamburger menu (three horizontal lines) in the top-left corner of the screen.
Scroll down and select Settings. - Tap Add account.
- Select Other as the account type.
- Type your KIT email address into the email address field.
Tap Manual setup. - Select Personal (IMAP).
- Enter the following information:
Username: Your email username (see below for details)
Password: Your CIS account password
IMAP Server: imapmail.cis.kit.ac.jp
Tap Next.Your Email Address
- @edu.kit.ac.jp domain (For Students):loginname@edu.kit.ac.jp
- @kit.ac.jp domain (For Faculty/staff members):loginname@kit.ac.jp
- Enter the following information:
Username: Your email username
SMTP Server: smtpmail.cis.kit.ac.jp
Tap Next. - Choose your preferred account options (e.g., sync frequency, notifications).
Tap Next. - Enter your preferred account name (e.g., "University Email") and display name (the name displayed on sent emails).
Tap Next to complete the setup.
